St. Patrick’s Day sees Doolin village springing to life for the 2016 tourist season.
Traditionally the national holiday on March 17th sees the village waking up from the quieter Winter season. This time of year sees the return of many seasonal businesses.
While most of Doolin remains open all year round, a lot of businesses are tourism focused so understandably they hibernate for the off season.
This week sees the return of the 2 ferry companies to Doolin Pier with trips to the Aran Islands and the Cliffs of Moher now available until October.
Even Dusty the Dolphin who moved to Inis Oírr a couple of years ago returned for a visit this week.
While most B&B’s are now open, this weekend sees the return of some local favourites.
O’Connor’s Riverside Camping opens today. Doolin Cafe in Roadford, Doolin and Sea Salt Cafe (previously Ivy Cottage) on Fisherstreet also make welcome returns.
Highlight of the week will be the St. Patrick Day’s Doolin Parade which leaves the Pier at 2pm and makes it way through the village to the community centre.
What to expect from the Doolin Parade.
